The sound of helicopters fill the air.. sirens in the distance. People start looking up.. going to windows to peer out. Once again we grab for our cell phones and check JPOST for the latest up to the moment news. Attack on the light rail... (thank GOD! Sue and I were not on it this morning!) ... Then news breaks attack at Damascus Gate which is about the length of a football field away from our modest little home we refer to as (the cave)...

Shulamita Goncharuk and I look at each other from across the table.. nestled in a quiet corner at Nafoura.. surrounded by people having lunch... the staff carries on with their tasks at hand hardly phased from the commotion outside the wall. I look past the partition that separates the inside dining area to the outside courtyard. Raed walks briskly thru the garden glancing up towards the sound of the helicopters.. Not concerned about the noise as much as he wants to make sure that his guests in the restaurant are well taken care.....

You see, things always carry on here...People may walk with a bit of tension in their steps.. with their heads turning more quickly to the left and the right ... watching, listening ... with an air of expectation of what's next!!! BUT, they always carry on ........

This has become the usual life
