Are Dreams and cries of the heart .. PRAYER?

Are Dreams and cries of the heart .. PRAYER?

Have you ever allowed yourself to build dreams in your head and heart?   Big dreams, small dreams, aspirations of all kinds and sorts?

I have!! I am a day dreamer and hope builder spurring myself onto a new tomorrow or a better today!  Some days I create businesses in my head and try to put them to paper.  Other days I build a home and fill it full of old treasures, new finds and beautiful art.   There is always a huge bathroom with a tub to soak in... and a giant kitchen to gather around the cooking island to tell stories, dance and sing as we prepare the evening meal.

Then .. we fill the giant farm table with glorious food and the room is aglow with smiles and laughter.

You see one of my dreams for myself was always to have a giant farm table,  something with history and character.  Something that I found and lovingly restored and refurbished back to a deepening beauty .. not of new but better!

As you know. I am a bit of a sojourner and I find home wherever I am and fill it with whatever and  whomever the Lord allows.  Those dreams that I create in my head and heart never diminish or go unheard from God.  They are at times a cry from my heart for hearth and home... always associated with a SAFE PLACE to land for me and .. you.

GOD HEARS those dreams and I think they move HIS heart.  In fact, I more often think now that all my heart is in CONSTANT COMMUNICATION with God.. and it is a form of Prayer.  IN fact, I know it is...

First John 5:15 “And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.”

Back to the table.  This summer I was in Germany and had the opportunity to stay with some amazing people that I love like family.  I found myself excited to go thru their Grannies barn and search for treasures!!! One treasure was a farm table... with a wonderful history all it's own!   Covered in dirt, dust and grim it somehow had avoided being sent to the dump or burned up.  Grannie is a no nonsense girl!

Fast forward.. I had the opportunity to not only refurbish and refinish the table .. but to do several projects for the family.

One night I went to bed exhausted... and well pleased at the days work and as I settled in for the night I realized I was lovingly refinishing the table.  Refinishing it the way I would for myself with great care and detail.   Praying over it and asking the Lord to fill it full of goodness and surround it with friends and family.

It STRUCK ME then... that maybe this will be the only farm table I have the opportunity to refurbish.  Maybe this is MY DREAM coming true but for someone else? I became sad for a brief moment thinking maybe I will never have my own table with it's own stories.  Maybe, just maybe time in this life is short - - and God might have something totally different for me -- YET, YET .. HE had heard my cry for a sweet farm table to be a part of my own story.

So here it is .. an answered prayer.  Not answered the way I had dreamed of (for myself) but answered nonetheless in a glorious way!

HE loves me and heard my cry.  He loves me allowed me the experience. He loves me and allowed me to sit around the table filled with Mexican food.  He loves me and filled the table with laughter and stories ....  He loves me and allowed me to experience THANKSGIVING around the table in Germany in September!!

Never a dull Moment! LIGHTS, CAMERA...ACTION!

“A lot of religious Jews thought that it was part of the festival and went in there, and were exposed to films about ‘that guy,’” he said, in a reference to Jesus.

Gopshtain and members of his organization have stood guard at the entrance to the church and they are to do so again on Friday, wearing shirts with a “no entry” traffic symbol and the words “warning: missionaries.”

As summer approaches and Jerusalem gears up for festival time... we all look forward to the  "Light in Jerusalem Festival!"

From the illumination of architecture to light statues, the festival is a  public and family oriented celebration that artists from different fields collaborated in!  It did have a very new age feel and theme to it over the years but none the less - it's pretty to look at!

A local church decided they were going to throw open their gates and allow those passing by to stop in and take advantage of the beautiful property  and offer hospitality.  The church, museum, coffee shop and restrooms were all open and available.   Some of the staff gave away hot beverages and cookies.

The staff obviously worked hard on preparing the grounds with lights, movies and action (think a lone lady playing a guitar by the gate).   It was all so very lovely!!

I was tucked into the little dwelling I consider home away from home... and  I received a call stating ... "You and your friends should come now and take photos and video!  We think there might be an incident tonight!"

We threw our dinner in the fridge (think elaborate preparations because it was Memorial Day weekend and we had contraband ...aka.. hot dogs ready to cook!)

We went to the church and low and behold .. there was an angry mob amassing outside the open gate.  They were shouting out slurs ...  such as .... "BEWARE MISSIONARIES" and things like...  "They KILLED OUR BODIES, NOW they want to KILL YOUR SOUL".

They yelled and pushed.  They stopped people from entering.  They turned people away as they even approached to peek inside.   One night in particular they had lights focused on the entrance way drive.  Hebrew letters just danced on the pavement below....  the group swore curses were being placed on them.  Literally!

It did get intense at times and police and lawyers had to be involved on several occasions.  Soldiers and police stood close at hand to make sure things didn't get out of control and they didn't.

It was rather interesting tho how some pedestrians reacted.  When told  "Don't go in".. some became very insulted and replied with their actions - and came on in!

I believe that there were amazing seeds planted that night of LOVE and care ... I believe as the staff stood at the gates and were kind to everyone that the Love of Christ was shown.

You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest,  and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth." Isaiah 62:6

Ask, Seek, Knock

Ask, Seek, Knock

INTERESTING FACT:  I wrote this back in 2012 when I was attending Calvary Chapel, Jerusalem.  Today... I stay right around the corner from these very doors......   Amazing

(Mat 7:7-8) "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. (8) For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

One warm summer morning I was laying on the floor praying asking of the Lord how do I draw closer to you?  I asked Holy Spirit to guide me to scriptures and reveal to me how to grow closer to himself and the Lord.  At that time I started to drift in and out of sleep.  The Lord and Holy Spirit gently spoke to me in a dream as I lay there before Him.

The dream started and I was in a city of stone.  Arched doorways held heavy wooden doors fastened together with metal findings and latches.  Burdensome, old doors beckoned me forward.  I heard the Lord tell me, “You’ve asked for my heart, you are seeking me now… now, it’s time to knock.”   I stood before the door and I knocked quietly not knowing what to expect.  Apprehensively, I began to knock slightly harder.  With each knock on the door I felt the Lord urging me to knock louder.  I did so.  Then yet another urge to press and knock even harder upon the door.   I started knocking and crying out to the Lord, so hard and ferociously that my knuckles started to bleed.  I knocked and knocked and knocked, but no answer.  I felt urged again to keep going.  I pressed past the pain, the bloodied knuckles, the exhaustion and I pounded the door with all my might.   I then lay at a heap at the bottom of the door, spent, exhausted, whimpering … barely able to raise my hand.  At that moment, completely used up and broken I became aware that someone had opened the door.  I felt myself being cradled in His arms.  He lovingly moved the hair from my face and I could hear Him whisper to me, you have learned what it means to KNOCK.

“Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find ; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. “ Matthew 7:7-8

As in my personal experience above, the Lord answers those that seek to find Him.  His desire is not only for you to ‘find’ Him, it is still deeper – to fellowship and abide with Him and have a love relationship with Him.

“9 Which of you , if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?  Or if he asks for a fish, you will give him a snake?  If you then though you are evil , know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your father in heaven give good gifts to those that ask him!” Matthew 7: 9-11

The desire of the Lord is that we simply turn our will over to Him and allow ourselves to take on HIS will for our lives.  When we seek the face and will of the Father and ask to be led by Holy Spirit we then start to seek and ask for things that are clearly in His will for our lives.   When we ask, seek and knock after those things the Father tells us:  “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” 1 John 5:14-15

What are the things that the Lord so freely wants to give to us?  His desire is to gift to us those things that empower us in our daily life in Him and to walk in step with Holy Spirit.   “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  Against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5: 22-23

The Lord’s desire is for us to grow even further in our walk with Him by spurring on those in the body of Christ that surround us.   With that He gives us the gifts of the Spirit.  “ Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for common good.  To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues and to still another the interpretation of tongues.  All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one just as he determines.”  1 Corinthians 12: 7-11

With these gifts the Lord also sets up a parameter on how we are to operate and use these gifts.  It’s simple:  “Love NEVER FAILS.  But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled, where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part , but when perfection comes the imperfect disappears.  When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child.  When I became a man I put childish ways behind me.  Now, we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now, I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.”  Galatians 13: 8-12

As we ask, seek and knock, the Lord opens the door and we are before Him and in HIS love and mercy He stoops down to us and let’s us know that HE has opened the door and we are fully known.

It’s HIS desire to open the door, it’s my desire to knock until HE opens!
